Introducing our 2018 White Spring Head Coach Shawn Walsh!
Shawn grew up playing hockey in Stratford and Waterloo before earning a golf scholarship in the U.S. and competing professionally. With over twenty years of coaching experience across multiple sports, he’s dedicated to helping young athletes grow through integrity, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
I grew up playing minor hockey in Stratford and Waterloo, followed by two years at the junior level. I remain deeply grateful to all the coaches who invested their time and effort into developing us as young athletes.
At 17, I made the difficult decision to pursue golf at a U.S. university on a scholarship rather than continue with hockey. After completing four years at university, I turned professional and spent several years competing on the mini tours before eventually deciding to transition into a more traditional career path. These experiences have provided me with valuable perspective and resilience in navigating life’s challenges—including the rewarding experience of raising four boys.
For the past two decades, it has been my privilege to invest in the next generation—whether through coaching youth sports (hockey, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, golf, etc.) or by mentoring young professionals in my career. My greatest goal is to pass on the same core values I was taught—integrity, persistence, teamwork, and a strong work ethic—so that others can build meaningful relationships and successful futures.
