Shawn Walsh brings a wealth of life and coaching experience to the Durham Mustangs. Growing up playing minor hockey in Stratford and Waterloo, followed by two years at the junior level, Shawn learned the value of dedicated coaching and mentorship firsthand. At 17, he made the tough decision to pursue golf on a university scholarship in the United States, where he spent four years developing his skills before turning professional and competing on mini tours.
Shawn’s diverse experiences—both in sports and in his professional career—have shaped his approach to coaching and mentorship. For the past two decades, he has been committed to giving back to the next generation, coaching young athletes in hockey, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, golf, and more. His goal is to instill important character traits such as integrity, persistence, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, helping players build successful relationships, careers, and lives both on and off the ice.
Shawn is certified as a Hockey Canada Level 1 Coach, an Ontario Lacrosse Level 1 Coach, and as a sports trainer, equipping him with the skills to guide young athletes safely and effectively.
