"As coaches, we want the kids to love the game and enjoy every moment on the ice. We will be encouraging them to embrace the challenges, celebrate their successes, and learn from their setbacks"
Head Coach, Andrew McEvoy
I am really looking forward to working with all of your young athletes during the 2025 spring hockey season. I have been involved with hockey my entire life. As a player I have been fortunate enough to play at an elite level which has allowed me to understand what it takes to get to the next step in the hockey journey. I have also worked as an Elite training coach under Jim Thompson for Powerhouse Hockey working with elite athletes of all ages including several players who have made it on to the NHL. I have been coaching minor hockey for the past 8 seasons in North Durham Minor Hockey Association. My passion is Coaching, I really enjoy seeing the development of the players as we work together and getting all the players to be involved with team success.”
“My coaching philosophy is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where players are provided with the skills to thrive - both mentally and physically - as an athlete. I teach that failure or mistakes need to be seen as opportunities to learn, and not as something to be ashamed of. That success involves putting in the work, and how putting in the effort in practice and workouts will translate to your success at game time. That positivity, teamwork and respect for your coaches / teammates is important. It is imperative to create a positive environment for everyone involved (both on and off the ice).
As coaches, we want the kids to love the game and enjoy every moment on the ice. We will be encouraging them to embrace the challenges, celebrate their successes, and learn from their setbacks.”
