The Durham Mustangs are excited to welcome back Chris Eade as Head Coach of the 2019 White team for the 2026–27 KSL season. Eade brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience, having already led the 2019 team in the KSL last year and serving as the Mustangs’ Spring Head Coach for the past two years. He is committed to helping young athletes develop their skills, grow their love for the game, and succeed both on and off the ice.
2019 Head Coach – Chris Eade
Chris Eade developed his passion for hockey while learning to skate on Buckshot Lake, which he still believes has the best ice in Ontario. His love for the game grew through minor hockey in Oshawa, culminating in his OHL draft year, where he was selected in the first round by the North Bay Centennials.
Eade attended the Canadian World Junior Summer Camp, and although he was ultimately cut, the experience strengthened his determination. He was later drafted into the NHL by the Florida Panthers, attending training camps and playing in preseason games with both the Panthers and the Montreal Canadiens. Competing alongside future Hall of Famers and experiencing the dedication required at the highest level provided invaluable lessons.
After being sent down to junior, Eade was traded to Erie, PA, joining the OHL Champion Erie Otters. That season, he earned the Best Defenseman and Most Dedicated Player awards. His professional career then took him through the AHL, ECHL, UHL, CHL, and included several years playing in Germany before returning to Canada to play at the University of Western Ontario. During his four-year tenure at Western, he graduated with Honours, won an OUA Championship, was named a First Team All-Star, and was voted team captain by his teammates.
